Nobody will want to visit our historic city centre once it has been blighted by the bland, any place architecture which would be better suited to Basingstoke or Southampton. Buildings with no architectural merit, that dwarf the surrounding street scene, draughty wind tunnel areas with little chance of sunlight and housing that will only be affordable by the wealthy are what is planned unless Wintonians speak out and demand better! AS

This proposal is clearly based on cramming as much into the space as possible in order to maximise the financial gain for the developer without giving the needs of our precious city a second thought. No right thinking person would consider this potential blott to be an enhancement to our beautiful landscape. Indeed, no development at all would be preferable to this proposal....A huge mistake has already been made in allowing the construction of the Brooks, another hideous monstrosity, so let us all please try and do what we can to prevent another, even bigger, mistake from being made. RW

The architecture, the volume and the sheer height of the buildings are simply not appealing and not good enough. We also need a beautiful open space for all the popular markets that are being held frequently in our historic city. LM

Genuine people of Winchester deserve to be heard over this matter before the city centre falls into more decline. CY

Winchester is important to all local residents, of any political leaning or none, and we are custodians of its national and international importance too. It has developed over a thousand years and we can surely wait a few more to get the right scheme which will enhance, rather than potentially destroy, the unique character of our precious city. LB

To repeat the mistakes of the Brookes Centre will amount to a complete disaster. PW

Reduce the height: how does 7 storeys in monumental blocks fit into the Winchester skyline and historic cityscape? VC

Seriously how much retail can a town support? Sandwiched between the major shopping centres of Southampton and Basingstoke it’s a loser’s game trying to match them. JE

The current scheme is deeply flawed and will adversely affect the heart of Winchester. EL

Our beautiful city will look as though it has grown a very large carbuncle if it goes ahead as planned. CG

We can do better than the identikit architecture at the street level. PM

Please go back to the drawing board - come up with redevelopment plans that are culturally led with architecture that will fit with Winchester's heritage and also provide for residents rather than retail outlets. CT
